As part of the Rockford Public Schools’ ongoing security initiative since 1998, the district will welcome Kent County Sheriff Deputy Eric Brunner as its School Resource Officer effective January 7, 2019 when students return from Christmas Break.

The SRO Program is a collaboration between the Kent County Sheriff Department and individual school districts, which assigns a uniformed police officer to be onsite in the district, adding another layer of security to our already excellent program.

You will see Deputy Brunner at RPS facilities throughout the school year on school days as well as during special events on evenings and weekends as needed.  In addition to developing relationships with staff and students, he will provide resources and work with us in an effort to reduce crime, drug abuse, and violence in and around the schools and the district.

Deputy Brunner has been with the Kent County Sheriff Department for 10 years and comes to us with extensive experience in numerous divisions within the Department.  We look forward to having Deputy Brunner at the Rockford Public Schools!
