Former RPS student, now Good Morning America Meteorologist, Ginger Zee will be sharing her passion for science and meteorology with RPS 6th graders on Friday, April 26th. Ginger is the Chief Meteorologist for ABC News, forecasting for and reporting on the nation’s weather from Good Morning America to World News Tonight.

Ginger’s dedication to science began at an early age while watching powerful thunderstorms rush across Lake Michigan. Her passion for meteorology brought her to storm chase in college at Valparaiso University where she earned her bachelor of science in meteorology.

She has authored three books. The first is a memoir: Natural Disaster: I Cover Them, I am One. The next two books are focused on getting young people interested in science, respecting the environment and atmosphere around them – Chasing Helicity and Chasing Helicity Into the Wind. The Helicity series is for middle school-aged students who are fascinated by science and weather.

Ginger will be presenting to East Rockford Middle School 6th grade students from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. and North Rockford Middle School students from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. She will also be signing her books for students during her visit.

Rockford Public Schools looks forward to welcoming back alumna and ABC Meteorologist, Ginger Zee!
