Rockford Public Schools will not consider you for employment unless you have a valid Michigan teaching certificate. Please check with the State of Michigan to see what steps you must take to either renew your expired certificate or to obtain a new Michigan teaching certificate. A Rockford Public Schools' administrator must recommend that you be placed on the District's Paraprofessional/Secretary Sub List ("Sub List"). If you have helped out in a building and that building's administrator believes you do an exceptional job, he/she would recommend to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources that you be placed on the Sub List. A person on the Sub List agrees that, if available, he/she will report to any building when called.

All Rockford Public Schools' paraprofessionals are highly qualified. Therefore, in order to be considered for a position as a paraprofessional, you must be highly qualified. The requirement to meet highly-qualified status as a paraprofessional is:

• you have 60 college credits,
• you have an Associate's Degree, OR
• you have passed the WorkKeys test.
