Observing the classroom in action is the best way for you to understand what Montessori is all about. An observation is typically 30-45 minutes in length. We encourage you to visit at different times during the year so that you can see how the children and the classroom change.

When you come to observe, we will ask that you position yourself in the room so that you seem “a part of things”. We will have a chair for you, but you are welcome to sit on the floor or somewhere else in the room so that the children can go about their business. There is much to be learned through quiet observation, so we ask that you make other arrangements for your own children.

We will try to talk with you during or after your observation. If we are busy working with the children, we’ll arrange another time to talk about your visit and answer any questions you may have. Observations begin in mid-October. Please call the Preschool and Child Care Services Office at 616.863.6560 to arrange a time to visit.
