Preschool Enrichment Childcare

Our Purpose

The purpose of our Preschool Enrichment Childcare Center is to provide for the total needs of the preschool age child. Our aim is to promote healthy child development through social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth experiences. It is our intention to make this experience as happy, secure, and stimulating as possible for the children. We have a well trained and caring staff to provide a warm, understanding environment in which your child can grow.  All of our staff are trained in early childhood, CPR and first aid.

Birthday Treats
Due to Health Department rules all snacks must be pre-packaged with ingredients listed.  No homemade snacks. We encourage nutritional snacks.  Please no hard candy, marshmallows, or items containing nuts or peanut oil. We also ask you do not send balloons. Please limit what you bring.  A treat or a simple item such as a pencil or sticker is sufficient.  Please do not send in a party bag of multiple items.  To keep with our policy of no violence avoid action figure themed items.
  • We would like to suggest:
  • Cookies, Cereal/Granola Bars, Popsicles, Crackers
  • Stickers, Fruit, Animal Crackers
  • Bakery made cupcakes (must have ingredients listed)
Cold Weather Policy
The children go outside to play 2-3 times a day.  We go outside unless the weather is too cold or rainy.  If the weather prohibits us from going outside, we have use of the gym for gross motor.  If the wind chill or actual temperature is 10 degrees or lower we stay inside.

Concerns
If you should have any questions or concerns please call the office at 863.6560.  Office hours are 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We will do all we can to find a mutually agreeable solution.  It is important to us that you feel comfortable bringing your concerns to our attention.  If you don’t feel your concerns have been properly addressed by talking with your classroom teacher or the program administrator, then there is a hierarchy of school officials you may contact beginning with the director of Community Services, Mrs. Lisa Jacobs.

Field Trips
We take 2-3 bus field trips.  Parents will always be notified in advance of field trips. A letter will go out explaining the trip date, destination, appropriate clothing, cost, and time lines. Parents will be asked to give written permission for their child to go on the trip. If transportation is needed we take Rockford Public Schools buses, driven by transportation staff.

Goals
  1. Children become decision makers.  Each child decides what he/she wants to explore and pursues that area of interest.
  2. Children will become more self-reliant and independent through self-help experiences during free choice, meal times, and personal grooming.
  3. Children learn to be problem solvers through their own thinking skills and self-reliance
  4. Children will learn to negotiate problems and conflicts with their peers.  Children will use verbal skills to express feelings to reach a mutual agreement.
  5. Art is a process not a product.  Children are presented with one or more medium and the child may explore the use, properties, and effects of that medium.
  6. Children will gain literacy skills through story reading, songs, finger plays, language development, discussions, self-expression, and other creative outlets.
  7. Children will develop math skills through exploration and meaningful experiences.

Hours of Operation
The Preschool Enrichment Childcare Center is in operation Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on a 12-month basis. The Center is closed major holidays, a few days around Christmas and New Years, and for a yearly teacher in-service day. Please check the Preschool Enrichment Child Care Center calendar for holiday closure dates.

Snow Days and Delay of School
If the Rockford Public Schools are cancelled for snow days, we will continue to open at 7 a.m.  We offer childcare for those families who sign up for "snow day care", based on your child's schedule.  When committing to "snow day care" you will be charged for the day, whether or not your child attends.  If you decide not to sign up for this care and the snow day is a regular scheduled day for your child to attend, you will receive a credit on your next statement.  If there is a delay of school, we still open at 7:00 am and will remain open until 6 p.m.
