Basketball Girls Summer Camps

CHEER

Coach: Renee Dengler, RHS Fall Sideline Cheer Coach

The RHS Varsity Cheer Team will be teaching campers the basic cheer motions, FUN new chants, the Rockford Fight Song with motions, jump form and technique, basic stunting techniques, crowd yells and an exciting half time pom-pom routine. The cost of the camp includes a tee shirt, snacks at the end of each day and we also give them something special at the end of the final day to remember their time with us! At the end of the last day for our camp, we have something we call “Final Day Fun” where each group will show off what they have learned. Parents, Grandparents and friends of the family are all encouraged to attend. Please bring/wear:  shorts, tennis shoes-shirt, sunscreen, and labeled water bottle.  Girls wear hair up in a pony-tail if hair is shoulder length or longer.  (entering grade of Fall 2017)

Learn to Row:
This program focuses on developing and expanding on key rowing techniques as well as learning how to handle the equipment and become comfortable being on the water. Rowers will work on learning the stroke of rowing on the rowing machines, the dock, then transitioning onto the water. This is a great rowing introduction to those interested in the sport for the long run or looking to try something new.

Learn to Skull:

This new camp is called the Everest Track Club.  Hosted by RHS Varsity Cross Country coach and Assistant Track and Field coach Ben Watson.  Ben will be assisted by past and present Rockford Athletes who will provide their knowledge on numerous events. The mission is to improve over-all speed and agility for athletes from all backgrounds.  We will help athletes young and old to learn and improve in every event in Track and Field.

Dance Camp

Camp activities will be based around dance technique, dance games, etc. There will be more basic activities for the younger campers while the older campers will gain valuable technique. “RAM PRIDE” TEAM CAMP Grades 7th-12th

We focus on LEARNING and PRACTICING football the ROCKFORD WAY. Participants should wear: t-shirts, shorts, socks, football shoes, mouth guards (encouraged yet optional). This camp is non-contact and no equipment is needed.

This TEAM camp will:

• To better acquaint ALL athletes with their level’s offensive and defensive terminology.
• To learn and polish TECHNIQUES associated with each offensive and defensive position.

QUARTERBACK TECHNIQUE CLINIC

The Rockford QB Technique Clinic is designed for young men who are SERIOUS about competing at the quarterback position. This is a clinic for QB’s entering grades 8-12. Time spent during the three days of our Technique Clinic will place major emphasis on many of the mechanics associated with successful quarterback play. Each individual will be exposed to numerous drills that emphasize footwork and proper arm action involved in passing the football.

GYMNASTICS

Gymnastics camp will focus on skills at each child’s individual level, from beginner gymnastics skills to more advanced tumbling skills. All events (vault, bars, beam, floor) will be taught. Students will work on basics, flexibility, and strength, as well as new skills and upgrades. Students are to bring/wear: leotard or shorts and tank top, grips if you have them. Please have your hair pulled back. Students must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the upcoming school year, or already be in grades K-5 to attend.

Boys Lacrosse Camp

The Rockford High School coaching staff is dedicated to providing a high energy and enthusiastic atmosphere.  The camp is focused on the fundamentals and the building blocks of lacrosse.  The campers are broken up by grades.  The younger camps will work on passing, catching, shooting, and picking up groundballs.  Games will be played and prizes will be given in hopes of getting the campers excited about the great sport of lacrosse.  The older campers will focus on the fundamentals while incorporating team practice concepts.

Girls Youth Lacrosse Camp

This camp is put on by the RHS Girls Lacrosse coaching staff and high school players.  Campers will have fun working through drills as they learn the fundamentals of the game. Based on experience level, players will be put into like skill groups. As an example: players with a higher skill level will be grouped together. This will allow the coaching staff to work with all the players. All levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to attend camp. Please bring a Lacrosse stick, goggles, and mouth guard.  We will have goggles and sticks for first time players. Please arrive 15 minutes early on the first day for check in.

TRACK AND FIELD CO-ED

Rockford High School track coaches and athletes will be instructing in all the basic track and field skills. Campers will learn by experiencing and participating in running, speed development (sprinting and mid-distance), jumping (high and long), throwing (shot), hurdling, and relays.  Emphasis will be on having fun and developing an appreciation for Track and Field.  The camp will conclude with a mini meet for the participants – please note the change of time on Thursday.
