Rockford Uses the Impact Concussion Management Software Program to manage our concussions
The Concussion Policy
This Protocol is Strictly Enforced by The Rockford Sports Medicine Staff, Coaches, and Administration.

We will baseline test athletes who participate in the following contact sports, Football, Boys and Girls Soccer, Hockey, Gymnastics, Boys LaCross, Wrestling, and Competetive Cheer.

Post concussion tests will be administered after symptoms have subsided; headache, nausea, blurred vision, dizziness, and amnesia. Tests will show deficits in memory, visual motor speed, reaction time, impulse control and total symptom score. They grade their scores against thier baseline and with national averages. Scores with deficits that are larhger than the RCI (reliable change index) will act as criteria for a withhold from competition and practice.

"What if my RAM athlete plays a non contact sport, can they use the Impact program?"

Yes, if you contact the RHS Athletic Training Room (myork@rockford.k12.mi.us), we will baseline test them as long as your noncontact athlete is not suffering from a concussion at the time.

"What if my child has a concussion and has not been baseline tested, can Impact help them?"

Yes, since Impact will show their scores against national averages, we can see where they score. We can also test them multiple times to show that their symptoms and criteria are improving. As their concussion resides, data will show that and we will have a record we can use as a baseline.

Can my own physician clear my child even if RHS sports medicine feels that they are too at risk to practice?

Yes, a M.D. or D.O. may clear them to participate after having looked at the data and determining that they are not at risk. The documentation must be on a physicians stationary and state that they have looked at the results of the test.
