Legendary Michigan-based author, Patricia Polacco, will visit Valley View Elementary on Tuesday, November 20, for a rare and exceptional day of learning with the student body and staff.

Patricia will immerse our students in a world of illustration, story writing, and generating story ideas, and will share with them her personal stories of overcoming adversity. Each student will have the opportunity to work alongside her and learn from her! Patricia will conduct three workshops for students (K-1, 2-3, and 4-5) during the school day, and families will have a meet and greet opportunity with Patricia at the end of the school day and after school.

This is an unparalleled experience for ALL Valley View staff, students, and families, and it would not be possible without grants from the Rockford Education Foundation and the Valley View PTO! A special thanks goes to Mrs. Hubner, 3rd grade teacher at Valley View, for organizing the effort to bring Patricia Polacco to Valley View.

The four books Patricia will discuss on November 20 are Thank You, Mr. Falker, Meteor, Chicken Sunday, and The Keeping Quilt, but there are dozens more stories she has written which are fantastic.
