NO SCHOOL
Due to Labor Day weekend, there is no school on Friday, August 29th, and Monday, September 1st!
VERIFICATION - MUST UPDATE FOR ALL STUDENTS
All verification and acknowledgment will take place in FAMILY ACCESS. You can find a link to RPS’ Family Access on our district website. The process is similar to last year, however, the materials have been updated to support student learning for the 2025-2026 school year.
The steps for completing the verification process for your child are as follows:
1. Log into Family Access.
2. Click on the "Go to Information Verification for your son/daughter."
3. Please complete the steps in order, as listed on the right-hand side of your screen. (Note that fields in grey can only be edited at the school building with proper documentation.) Please select the appropriate drop-down items for each screen. Each step requires you to select "I have completed this step" at the bottom of the screen to finalize your information.
4. When completing the School Participation step, click on the link called "School Participation", click "yes" on the pop-up window to complete this step. Enter the proper information and click "Save" in the upper right-hand corner.
5. Once all steps have been completed, the final step allows you to submit the information. (THIS IS KEY TO FINALIZING VERIFICATION.) Once finalized, you will receive an automated email verification. If you do not receive an email, please go back into FAMILY ACCESS to review any missing steps/information.
PLEASE BE SURE TO MARK YES FOR YEARBOOK IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR STUDENTS PICTURE TO BE IN IT.
HAND2HAND
LABEL EVERYTHING

EVERYTHING STEAM
CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS:
We are so excited to be teaching STEAM to all Crestwood students again this year! We have a lot of hands-on learning and creative problem-solving ahead, and I look forward to seeing the amazing things our students will design, build, and explore.
We would love to have parent volunteers in the STEAM classroom this year. If you’d like to sign up to help, please use the link below. If all the slots are full but you’d still like to volunteer, please reach out to me—we’ll work something out!
STEAM NIGHT VOLUNTEERS:
Looking ahead, STEAM Night will be held on November 4th from 5:30–7:30 PM at East Rockford Middle School. This is one of our favorite events of the year, and we are seeking parents who would like to work alongside the STEAM teachers to help make it a success. If you’re interested, please fill out this short form below.
WISH LIST:
We are always in need of materials for our makerspace! Please see the wish list below for items we are collecting. Students may drop off donations in the front vestibule or in front of the STEAM classroom. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our STEAM space stocked and ready for creativity
ACTIVITY PASS
Activity Pass payments are due September 26th. Thank you for your payments! This one-time payment for your child encompasses their participation in fun and enriching activities during the school year, field trips, staff events and classroom activities. We kick off the year with our first PTO meeting on September 24th at 7:00 PM in the Media Center and hope to see you there! All parents and staff are encouraged to attend PTO meetings.
CRESTWOOD SHIRTS
Shirts were distributed at Open House. If your student needs one, please let your teacher know.
Fifth graders will be tie-dying their shirts, therefore they are white, not orange.
POPCORN FRIDAYS
PTO Popcorn Fridays start September 19th! For this first Friday, the entire school will get a bag of popcorn as a welcome gift to PTO and Popcorn Fridays. After September 19th, students who have purchased the popcorn program with their Activity Pass will receive a bag of popcorn to bring home at the end of the day.
The Popcorn program runs on pure volunteer power!
MILEAGE CLUB
Mileage Club is a PTO program that gets children motivated to walk or run weekly on the Crestwood track. This year students will be tracking their laps with wristbands. With each level completed, students receive a toe token charm to collect on their necklace.
At each Fun Run throughout the year, a themed charm is given with the completion of one lap. Grades K-5th participate in Mileage Club and DK-5th participate in all Fun Runs. Please make sure your child is wearing track appropriate footwear on Mileage Club dates.
We'd love parent volunteers for Mileage Club during lunch hours. Click the link below to volunteer!
DONUTS WITH GROWN UPS
Donuts with Grown Ups is a student favorite! Join PTO, parents, staff and students for a sweet morning of donuts on the playground September 18th and 19th.
To keep parking manageable, we ask that last names A-L attend on September 18th and last names M-Z attend September 19th. If a parent is unable to make it we encourage a special grown up such as a grandparent or other family member to attend with your child!
The fun starts at 8:00 AM each morning and goes until the bell rings at 8:25 AM.
Help one day and attend another! This is a great way to get to know parents at Crestwood.
CRESTWOOD ROOM PARENTS
We appreciate our room parents! If you are interested in being a new or returning room parent, sign up here. There are two per classroom and we will meet as a team to answer any questions after the PTO meeting on September 24th.

MESSAGE FROM PTO
All parents and staff are part of the PTO and we encourage you to attend a meeting this school year. The Crestwood PTO Board is a team of volunteers working to make your child's experience at Crestwood a memorable one! We host multiple family events throughout the year and engage students in Mileage Club and Popcorn Days. The PTO supports staff with classroom grants, Specials grants and staff appreciation days.
We understand the hustle and bustle of family life. Instead of doing many separate student fundraisers during the year, we ask each family to contribute toward an Activity Pass. Your donation helps cover a wide variety of fun and important things for our students, including:
Field trips and transportation
Admission to multiple family events for your whole family
Donuts with Grown-Ups
Student T-shirts
Classroom Grants
Staff Appreciation Days
Field Day Activities
Music Performances and Guests
Library books for all grades
…and more!
We do our best to keep the Activity Pass affordable for families. Costs vary by grade level, since each grade has its own unique events. Paying as soon as possible helps the PTO plan ahead and make sure every activity is covered for the school year. More details and payment links will be coming soon—thank you for helping make this school year amazing for our kids! Stay in the loop with PTO on
REMINDERS
Feel free to pack an extra pair of socks, shorts, t-shirt, and sweatpants in your child's backpack during the spring months. Don’t forget to put your child’s name on coats, rain boots, etc. Thank you!
Weather Alert
For up-to-date information regarding Rockford Public Schools delays and/or closings, events and safety alerts, send a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our district’s short code number, 67587. Opt out any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”. Be sure to tune in on icy or snowy mornings!
OFFICE REMINDERS
Absences MUST be called into the office 616.863.6346 or emailed to the front office - lgreene@rockfordschools.org
Please leave a message on our general voicemail box if you are calling after hours. Whether you are reporting an absence on our voicemail, the State of Michigan requires us to know the following:
- Student's name and teacher
- Reason for absence - if it is an illness we need to know the symptoms of the illness - vomiting, coughing, fever, cold, diarrhea, lice - whatever the reason may be.
NO CELLPHONES OR SMART WATCHES
- Students with a cellphone will be asked to turn the phone off and not use them during the school day. Please do not text or call your student on their device during the school day. This creates a distraction to the classroom. We will always help with communication through the office or an email to the teacher if needed.
- Students with Apple watches or other wrist devices are asked not use the device to communicate during the school day.
- Students who need to contact home because they are ill or wondering about the end of the day pick up should talk to their classroom teacher who will help them navigate next steps of support.
- Devices at school are distracting to students during the learning day and we ask that unless your student needs the device to communicate after school that they stay home.
- Thank you for your support.
