Staff Spirit Days - Grinch Day
a note from Mr. Clark
Happy Holidays, Rams! As we wrap up the last week before the winter break, we hope you find time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the season with family and friends.
Flex Time: Mr. Clark and the Assistant Principals held a Student Leadership Guiding Coalition meeting during Flex time to discuss the student experience at RHS. The group had representation from different realms of RHS life (academics, clubs, athletics, and activities). This coalition will meet throughout the year during Flex time and serve as student advisors to administration and staff.

Family Access: Staying connected to your student’s grades and attendance through Family Access/Skyward helps build a strong partnership between home and school. Parental involvement plays a vital role in keeping students engaged, accountable, and supported as they work toward academic success. You can choose to receive daily, weekly, or monthly updates on attendance and progress report. Click here for instructions: family access instructions
Food Service: Parents, in case you didn't know, both breakfast and lunch are completely free for all students this year—students just need their student ID or number. Eating regular, balanced meals isn’t just about staying full; the brain needs fuel to focus, learn, and stay sharp throughout the day. Encourage your student to start their day with breakfast here at the high school if they don't have time at home. Breakfast is served every day from 7:00 to 7:40 am.
Conferences: Second trimester Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up on January 13th at the RHS 10-12 Building, and January 16th at the Freshman Center. We are offering hybrid options at both locations: 3:00 to 4:20 VIRTUAL/PHONE and 4:30 to 6:00 IN PERSON. Look for sign ups to be sent out after the winter break.
Drop Off & Pick Up Procedure Reminder: Please avoid using the bus loop during student drop-off and pick-up times. This area is reserved for buses only to ensure student safety. The drop-off and pick-up area is located in the one hour parking, across from the main entrance. Please do not park or wait in the bus lane in front of the main entrance. Student drop-off time is between 7:00 AM and 7:40 AM. Student pick-up time is between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM. Thank you for your cooperation.
RHS Entrepreneurship Classes Spreading Holiday Cheer: Each year, students from the Entrepreneurship classes canvas the community for donations in order to provide Christmas gifts for families in need in our school.
FLEX TIME VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to everyone who filled out the Flex Time Guest Speaker Form! We will be reaching out soon to schedule a flex time with you.
We are still looking for parent and community volunteers to enrich and enhance our students' learning during Flex Time.
•Career Speakers: Could you talk about your job, employability skills, career path, training or an industry?
•Skill/Talent Sharing: Do you have a unique skill or hobby you could share (e.g., coding basics, cooking, budgeting, interviewing, graphic design)?
Your time and expertise can make a real difference, enhancing the excellent Flex time staff are already doing. These sessions are designed to expand students' knowledge of opportunities, skills, and potential career pathways. Flex Time runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:40-12:10. Please complete quick survey if you are interested in volunteering for a session(s).

The counseling office would like to remind you that Rockford High School offers a Care Closet stocked with a variety of free essential items available to any RHS student. Items include, but are not limited to:
- Non-perishable food
- Toiletries
- Personal hygiene products
- Clothing
- Shoes
All students are welcome to access the Care Closet whenever a need arises. If your student or family could benefit from this resource, please contact the Counseling Office. Students may stop by at any time to request a visit to the Care Closet or message their counselor through Schoology. Alternatively, families can send an email to Kara Dixon (kdixon@rockfordschools.org) and she will coordinate with you. Additionally, we offer “grab-and-go” bags containing non-perishable food items for students who prefer a more discreet option. The greater Rockford area also has a variety of food resources - a link with those options is attached here. If you need more consistent help, please use the link here to fill out a form for the Hand2Hand program. We’re here to help - please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can support you in any way.
