Hello Edgerton Families!
For a short month, February holds a lot of fun and activity. I have bullet pointed important items for you all. Have a great weekend.
- Report Cards are available on Family Access today (February 23, 26)
- If you have not signed up for a conference and would like to do so, please reach out to your student's teacher. The conference link to sign up electronically is now closed.
- Boots Please...our playground is a wet and muddy mess. We want to keep feet dry and the dirt outside.
- THANK YOU!! To the PTO, parent volunteers and teachers that worked to plan and support the VIP Breakfast. We had a great turnout each morning!
- Book Fair: Open during school hours and February 24 and February 26 from 4:15-7:00 (During conferences)
- LOST and FOUND...so many items please check it out at conferences. All items will be donated on March 2.
- Kindergarten Enrollment is open and Kindergarten Screening will take place in April. Please share this info. with any friends and neighbors that may have a school age kiddo. We will have a Kindergarten Information Meeting for all families of DK/K students on March 16 at 6:00 here at school.
- Yearbook ordering end April 19. We are not able to order extra yearbooks. See the link below to order. Yearbooks are delivered to school in May.
- Reminders for parent drop off. Drop off starts at 8:25am ends at 8:35am. Please drop your child off at the front office if after 8:35am. Do not have your child get out on the left side of your vehicle they should exit out onto the sidewalk. Pull forward when able to. Fast goodbyes make for happy mornings! We appreciate your cooperation in keeping drop-off moving. If your child needs help getting out of the car in the morning use the front office parking lot instead of parent drop off. Morning entry is for students only. Thank you for your help and understanding.
Kindness week at et
Our Culture and Climate Committee works to provide positive experiences for our students and staff throughout the school year. This week we celebrated Kindness by having a variety of kindness activities for our students. Students received and gifted notes of encouragement to their Reading Buddies and to staff. Those who gave and who received were full of smiles.
Hand to Hand Fundraiser Thank you
Edgerton Trails brought in over $500.00 for Hand 2 Hand. Thank you for supporting this through your donations. Dr. Matthews will be making chocolate chip cookies for our students as this was the reward for the school that brought in the most donations.
Attention all 5th Graders! NRMS Open house date:
Student and Parent Open House (Optional)
Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
There is an optional 6th Grade Open House for students and parents who would like to see North Rockford Middle School. During the open house, we will have students providing tours. If you have an older sibling that wants to provide the tour, we would love to see them back in the building. We will also host a summer orientation for students in August.
Book BINGO aND ART SHOW is MARCH 11
Mark your calendars for a night of family fun! Our PTO will host its annual Book BINGO & Art Show event on Wednesday, March 11 from 5:30 - 7:00 PM at our school. We hope all of our students and their families will join us for Bingo, book giveaways, artwork displays, and light refreshments. Also, you won't want to miss the PTO's silent auction featuring amazing items generously donated by local businesses. Money raised through the silent auction will help support the PTO's upcoming Spring Carnival on May 7. Venmo, cash, and checks will all be accepted. There is no cost to attend the Book BINGO & Art Show event.
kindergarten enrollment
- Children who turn five years old on or before December 1, 2026, are eligible to enroll for the 2026-2027 school year.
- Take advantage of an early placement screening by enrolling your Developmental Kindergarten or Kindergarten-age child prior to June 1, 2026.
- Please visit www.rockfordschools.org/enrollment/kindergarten-enrollment/ to review the online enrollment procedures and required documentation.
- If on June 6, 2026, your child is a current DK, Early Childhood Special Education, SIP or SSG student, an additional enrollment is not required.

Orders can be placed online at Order Yearbooks Here. The office does not order extra yearbooks, please order from Lifetouch if you are interested in having a yearbook for your student.

Substitute teachers needed
Edgerton Trails Elementary School is currently looking for substitute teachers to support our amazing students and staff! If you enjoy working with children, have a flexible schedule, and want to make a positive impact in our school community, we would love to have you join our substitute team. Substitutes play an important role in keeping learning on track and helping our classrooms run smoothly. reporting absences
If your child will be absent from school, please remember to report the absence and include the reason your student will be out. Letting us know why your child is absent (illness, appointment, family reason, etc.) is important for attendance records and helps us ensure student safety. Simply stating that your child will not be at school is not enough for the absence to be documented properly. Thank you for helping us keep our records accurate and up to date!

2026 grasp information
Do you want to help your child maintain reading and math skills over summer break? GRASP is an at-home program used by families for 50 years!
Children finishing Kindergarten to 8th grade receive a packet of materials with a booklet. This booklet has 9 units of review exercises to be completed each week. Each lesson takes about one hour to complete.
You mail the scan sheets to GRASP for scoring, and they will email lesson results back. Or parents can score scan sheets with their cell phones instead of mailing them in. Parents will receive an email with more information after the registration is processed.
SUGGESTED RETURN DATE FOR FIRST LESSON IS JUNE 12TH ALL LESSONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY AUGUST 7TH
Children in grades 4 to 8 can choose to do GRASP online instead of using the book and scan sheets. The results of each question are shown immediately.
Students successfully completing at least 7 units with 70% accuracy are awarded a certificate. Those successfully completing all 9 units with 70% accuracy receive a medal (one per child). Results will be shared with your school, and they will distribute certificates and medals.
The cost is $30 for one subject or $50 for both subjects for each child. Order the grade level they are just completing so they can review or order a different level if that is appropriate for your child.
Register online at rps.digitalsignup.com no later than noon on April 15, 2026. All materials will be sent home with your child by the last week of school. Online logins will be emailed.
*Registration closes at noon on April 15, 2026.
PLEASE NOTE, refunds will not be given if the order is cancelled after April 15, 2026. CREDIT CARD PAYMENT ONLY.
