A note from Mrs. O.
Hello Edgerton Trails Families:
We will complete our first full week today and it has been a great start to your school year. I wanted to offer an explanation around a few items. First is the Activity Pass. Our PTO wanted to streamline the collection of funds for parents by providing a pay ahead for the year system. Through this process, field trips are all set for the school year. The PTO then uses the funds for payment of field trips as well as, popcorn days, class t-shirts, Mileage Club, etc. If this dollar amount poses a challenge to your family, please let me know and I can confidentially take care of this.
Our Fall Fundraiser will run from October 1-15. The funds generated from this allow our PTO to support teaching and learning in our building. This includes but is not limited to supporting students in the classroom, playground and through PTO sponsored events. News and information regarding the Fundraiser will come home with your student on September 29.
Our focus areas this school year: Kindness, Manners and Community. One of the best examples of this is our Safety Patrol. These 5th grade students are awesome role models to our DK and K students as they assist with dismissal each day. I am grateful and so impressed with this group of students.
Should you have questions or concerns around this or anything as we go through the school year do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Have a great fall weekend.
Shannon
Activity Pass Explanation and request
- The Activity Pass is to streamline payments for families. With the pass, families pre pay for all school activities, including Field Trips, Mileage Club, classroom T-shirts, popcorn.
- The PTO is doing this in hopes to support parents as they will not have to pay each time an event comes up.
- The PTO worked to create online payment; however, this was not possible.
- Payment can be made in the form of a check or cash. Checks made payable to Edgerton Trails PTO. Funds can be sent in with your student, dropped off to the office or mailed to the school (Edgerton Trails Elementary School, 9605 Edgerton Ave. Rockford, MI 49341)
- Each grade level amount is determined by the field trips their grade level is taking. Below is a breakdown of each grade level amounts:
- DK: $25.00
- Kindergarten: $30.00
- 1st: $20.00
- 2nd: $30.00
- 3rd: $50.00
- 4th: $50.00
- 5th: $40.00 This does not include end of the year 5th Grade Celebrations.
NWEA and MSTEP DAta
- Student NWEA reports will be sent home Monday. All students Kindergarten-5th grade participate in NWEA three times a year. The data is used to determine next steps in instruction as well as to determine intervention when needed.
- MSTEP scores for our 4th and 5th grade students will also come home Monday. These are for the test taken last spring.
- Please see the letters from the district for more information about both the NWEA and MSTEP.
- NWEA Parent Letter K-3rd Grade
- NWEA/MSTEP Parent Letter 4th and 5th Grade
other news
- Mrs. Sedlock, our art teacher, has created an online platform for parents to view their students artwork. The website can be accessed here: https://www.artsonia.com/connect/89KBB8R6
- Edgerton Trails PTO is on Facebook. Please follow the Edgerton Trails PTO Facebook page for updates on all things Edgerton Trails.
- Mileage Club is up and running (pun intended). Students' 2nd-5th grade are invited to run the 1/4-mile loop at lunch time on Fridays. We are using an app that tracks students running progress. Thank you to Catie Oliver for organizing this for students.
- Girls on the Run: This will take place in the Spring, and we have a group of students interested in participating. In this program, students train in the Spring, for a 5K in Grand Rapids that usually takes place in mid-May. In order to have a team at Edgerton Trails we will need volunteer coaches. Applications are now open, and I know we have students that would love to participate. If you have interest in being a coach, please reach out to me with questions.
