What We Have Been Working On at East Rockford Middle School

As we move toward spring, days are getting longer, warmer weather is on the horizon, and we have 36 instructional days until spring break. While we do not typically count down, it is a helpful number for planning and staying focused on learning.

Our staff continues to strengthen everyday classroom instruction so more students experience success the first time they learn new content. Teachers work in collaborative teams to identify essential skills, design aligned assessments, review student results, and adjust instruction based on student needs to create consistent, high-quality learning experiences across classrooms.

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) Meeting

We would love for families to attend our PAC meeting at Central Office on Thursday, February 12th if you are able. During this meeting, we will share upcoming shifts in our assessment and grading practices and how these changes are designed to better support student learning and growth. Your partnership is important to us, and we hope you can join us.

Policy for picking up your student DURING the school day:

Please have your student come to the main office to pick up their pass when they arrive at school in the morning. A note stating the time they need to leave is helpful in case they forget the time they are leaving. This policy is to discourage calling into classrooms and interrupting teacher instruction. When you arrive to pick up your student please wait in the vestibule for them and sign them out on our sign out sheet. If your student is sick or unable to attend school for the whole day please leave a message on our attendance line 616-863-6140 stating the reason for the absence. Please spell your student's first and last name during your call.
