  • Join us Monday, June 2nd to open the time capsule buried behind the library wall in the year 2000! We will also celebrate the teaching career of Ms. Avink, who is retiring after 36 years of teaching. 

  • Mileage Club has completed our first year as a school-wide club! We broke a new record in just 22 days. 
    • Over 100 students made it to 1/2 marathon or more!
    • 39 students reached Gold Status!
    • Students and Staff logged over 4,344 miles!
    • 3rd grade ran the greatest distance totalling over 1,223 miles. 
    • Miss Diederich's class had the most mileage in a class!
    • Congrats to Camden C. and Teegan C. who set the pace for the rest of us. They each logged 68.67 miles. 

  • Looking for a summer tutor?

  • Thank you Papergator! While we did not win the Fill The Gator prize, Lakes was selected to receive $500 in school supplies out of all the schools that participated. Students and staff are excited!



  • Girls on the Run is so much fun! Congratulations to all of our Lakes Students for finishing with a 5K in downtown Grand Rapids.

          
  • T-shirt Design Winners : Congratulations to Adelyn B., Reid M., Cora T., and Gwen F. for finishing in the top 5 of designs for the PTO's t-shirt contest. This student-voted, winning design will feature the artwork of Hazel W.! The design will be featured on next year's school t-shirts.

  • April Students of the Month: In April, we focused on the trait of Courage! The students below were selected for demonstrating the ability to do things that are scary. Congrats to:

  • Want to keep the Run Fun going? Team Orphans Kids for Kids Run is almost here!! Saturday, June 7, 2025  at 10:00 am  (Summer Parade starts at 11). Register at www.teamorphans.com
    • Kids 12 and Under (parents can run with kids FREE)
    • 1 Mile all on the White Pine Trail
    • Timed race with age group prizes
    • $30 fee which includes a tech shirt
    • Food and drinks for the whole family afterwards

NexTrex Recycling

Bins located in front vestibule. All bags should be clean and free of food or other debris.

  • Produce bags, grocery bags, ice bags, cereal box liners, bread bags, bubble wrap, dry cleaning bags - Plastics that can stretch. 
  • We've collected over 279 pounds of plastic!

Papergator Recycling

Green dumpster located in the side parking lot. 

  • Office/School papers, newspaper, junk mail, magazines, shredded paper, and cereal boxes (paper board that can be torn), etc. 

Popcan Tabs

Can be turned in to the front office. Collected and sent to Ronald McDonald House. 

Enrollment is Open

Enrollment for the 2025/2026 school year is open. Children who turn five years old on or before December 1, 2025 are eligible to enroll for the 2025/2026 school year. In order to take advantage of an early placement screening, please enroll your Developmental Kindergarten -or- Kindergarten-age child before June 1, 2025.
