Hello ERMS families,
As we enter the final third of the school year, routines are well established and our teachers know their students well. This allows instruction to become more targeted, as teachers have a clearer picture of what students understand and where they may still need additional support. Our teams continue working to refine instruction so students are supported, challenged, and growing as the year progresses.
One of the strengths of East Rockford Middle School is the individual talent of our teachers and the way they collaborate as teams. That collaboration happens every day in our building and is especially evident during our early release days when teachers meet together to review student learning, share strategies, and coordinate instruction across classrooms. When teachers bring their expertise together in this way, it creates a strong learning environment that benefits all students.
With state assessments approaching this spring, our focus remains on strong daily instruction. Rather than shifting to test preparation alone, our teachers continue building on the learning that has taken place throughout the year. Students are given opportunities to demonstrate their understanding, explain their thinking, and continue growing academically.
Families can support this effort by encouraging consistent attendance, helping students stay organized, and celebrating growth along the way. When school and home work together around clear goals, students thrive.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are fortunate to serve your students and to be part of such a supportive and engaged community. The collaboration between our families and school plays an important role in helping students succeed, and we appreciate the trust you place in us each day. Together, we remain focused on helping every student grow, feel supported, and take pride in their progress as the year continues.
Thank you and Go Rams!

Policy for picking up your student DURING the school day:
Please have your student come to the main office to pick up their pass when they arrive at school in the morning. A note stating the time they need to leave is helpful in case they forget the time they are leaving. This policy is to discourage calling into classrooms and interrupting teacher instruction. When you arrive to pick up your student please wait in the vestibule for them and sign them out on our sign out sheet. If your student is sick or unable to attend school for the whole day please leave a message on our attendance line 616-863-6140 stating the reason for the absence. Please spell your student's first and last name during your call.
