News from Sra. Santillán

Dear Roguewood Families,

December is flying by, and somehow we’re already just two short weeks away from break. Even though we’re counting down the days, our school is still buzzing with meaningful activity. With the Spelling Bee, our postponed Winter Music Concert for 2nd–5th grade students, upcoming classroom parties, and everything in between, this month is full, fast, and purposeful.

Yet even in the whirlwind, joy is everywhere. From festive moments around the building to watching students play in the snow and build igloos, our school is bursting with reminders of why we love what we do. This time of year always encourages me to slow down just enough to notice the good all around us.  I am always filled with joy and awe when I am able to take it all in.

Thank you for sharing your children with us, for bringing positivity and partnership to our community, and for helping make Roguewood a place where students and staff can experience a little magic in the everyday.

Your proud principal!

Amie Santillán

Helping Hands

Thank you Roguewood for all the generous support to our Helping Hands campaign for families who need support during the Holidays. We do still have some holes to fill; please check out the sign up genius links if you are able to help!

To make things a bit easier for those who want to help, we have 4 separate sign ups, so you can share your support through the one that works best for you and your family!

We kindly ask all donations be dropped off to the office before December 12th.

Thank you, Roguewood!!! Together, we continue to do great things!!!

*if donating an item listed with a family number, please label with that number when dropping off to school*

We appreciate your support!

RECYCLING CHALLENGE UPDATE:

We did it!!  We are beyond grateful to all the students (families) and staff that helped collect plastic.  In just 6 weeks we collected just over 300 pounds.  Way to go Roguewood!

We are still collecting plastic until we meet our final goal of 1000 lbs.

NEXTREX CHALLENGE What can be recycled- grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, ziplock food storage bags, cereal bags, salt bags, produce bags. Once our school collects 1,000 lbs we will earn a free bench. We have collected 301 lbs so far.

LABEL EVERYTHING - SEND IN EXTRA CLOTHES

To avoid your student’s clothing from going into the lost and found PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING!!! Label all coats, boots, mittens, hats, etc. Labeling items will ensure they will back it back home!

ALL students should have a change of clothes in their lockers.  Our Care Closet only has a few outfits for students to borrow and bring back.  We tend to run out as the year goes on.

These food items will be a combination of breakfast, snacks, and lunch or dinner items. There is no cost to participate! If you sign your student up to receive Hand2Hand, they will continue to receive the weekend bag of food each week throughout the school year. Bags will be discreetly delivered to your child at school. If you feel like your child would benefit from this opportunity, please complete this form. hand2hand sign up (You will need to complete one form for each of your children.)
