News from Sra. Santillán
Hello Roguewood Families,
We wrapped up M-STEP testing for our 3rd–5th grade students this week and are now moving into our Spring NWEA reading and math assessments. We took our reading tests this week and move to math next week. This is always such an exciting time of the year as students have the opportunity to see how much they have grown through their hard work throughout the year. This is one of the biggest joys an educator can experience; the pride on a student's face when they see their growth is worth more than gold.
Today was also a very special day at Roguewood. Our graduating seniors returned to walk through the hallways of our school one last time. Our students lined the halls cheering them on with handmade signs, notes of encouragement, smiles, and excitement. They were even lucky enough to have a couple of teachers from years past come to visit and wish them well. One of my favorite moments was watching the seniors out on the playground reconnecting with memories from their elementary years. I even heard there may have been a football game needed to settle a score that dates all the way back to 5th grade!
Thank you as well to all of our families who showered our staff with kindness, encouragement, and appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week. Roguewood is filled with an incredible staff, and it meant so much to see them recognized for all they do for our students and families each day.
Believe it or not, this week was our last full week of school. We are officially in the home stretch! While the end of the year is approaching quickly, we still have many exciting learning opportunities, celebrations, field trips, and memory-making moments ahead of us.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Kind regards,
Amie Santillán, Proud Roguewood Principal

SURVIVAL TIPS
· Students should wear appropriate clothing. Layering is a good idea, not only for cool/hot weather comfort but also for protection from the sun and insects. We suggest shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and P.E. SAFE SHOES (no sandals please!) Crocs are fine in sport mode.
· As we have had in the past, we will have water themed stations for grades 3-5. Students will get wet but not drenched from head to toe. With the placement of the stations, students should have plenty of time to dry off outside. Please send an extra set of clothes for students to change into for additional comfort.
· We are not allowed to apply bug spray or sunscreen at school, so we recommend that BOTH are applied prior to coming to school on this day if you wish to have your kiddo have some extra protection from the elements. These products cannot be sent to school with students.
· Hats and sunglasses can be worn for additional sun protection.
· ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING A LABLED WATER BOTTLE. Water only please! Sweet drinks attract bees, and we must keep ALL students safe.
