News from Sra. Santillán

Dear Roguewood Families,

As we head into a short school week, I want to wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Whether you're traveling, staying close to home, gathering with loved ones, or simply enjoying some well-earned rest, I hope this season brings you joy, connection, gratitude, and maybe a slice of pie.

This time of year always reminds me how much I have to be thankful for here at Roguewood. I am grateful for our wonderful students, our dedicated staff, and the strong, supportive families who make this community so special. Your partnership and trust truly make a difference every single day.

Warmest wishes for a safe, restful, and happy Thanksgiving!

Don't forget that our Holiday Music Program  for 2nd - 5th grades is  Wednesday, December 3rd.  We are excited to see you there.

Your proud principal!

Amie Santillán

Character Trait of the Month: Gratitude

Roguewood R.A.M.S. Give Thanks and Shine Bright
R-Respectful • A-Accountable • M-Motivated • S-Safe

Roguewood students have once again shown what it means to live the R.A.M.S. values. By surpassing October’s ticket goal through acts of respect, our students continue to make Roguewood a place of kindness, responsibility, and motivation.

This Thanksgiving, the focus turns to Gratitude - a simple yet powerful practice that can transform lives. A Harvard study found that gratitude not only boosts happiness but also improves health. Those who regularly express thankfulness experience better emotional well-being, improved sleep, lower risks of depression, and even stronger heart health. Harvard

Sharing gratitude doesn’t have to be complicated. Try going around the dinner table and naming one thing to be thankful for. This small tradition can strengthen family bonds and lift everyone’s spirits.

As Oprah Winfrey reminds us, “Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.”

This Thanksgiving, let’s celebrate the R.A.M.S. way - by being Respectful, Accountable, Motivated, and Safe, while spreading gratitude throughout our school and community.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hand2hand

A free weekend food opportunity for kids! We would like to offer your student the opportunity to participate in a program called "Hand2Hand". This program helps provide a student with food for the weekends and is intended for families who currently may be experiencing a financial burden. Here's how it works: At the end of each week, students who are signed up for Hand2Hand will receive a minimum of 10 food items in a bag. These food items will be a combination of breakfast, snacks, and lunch or dinner items. There is no cost to participate! If you sign your student up to receive Hand2Hand, they will continue to receive the weekend bag of food each week throughout the school year. Bags will be discreetly delivered to your child at school. If you feel like your child would benefit from this opportunity, please complete this form. hand2hand sign up (You will need to complete one form for each of your children.) If there comes a point when you no longer need the assistance, alert your school office. It will take at least two weeks to receive your first bag. If you do not receive a bag, please contact your school office.

All of the children within our community deserve to experience a sense of self-worth and have their fundamental needs fulfilled. Our goal, with the help of generous donations, is to provide these items at no cost to those in need.
