News from Sra. Santillán

Welcome Roguewood Families!

It’s been an exciting time at Roguewood Elementary! Last week’s Pumpkin Run was awesome, with more race finishers than ever before.  A huge shout-out to Mrs.Joyce and all of the volunteers who helped make this event so special. A big thank-you goes to our PTO for providing the shirts, water, apples, and pumpkins.  This is such a fun community experience.

This week, our 5th graders had a wonderful adventure at Camp Roger, exploring the outdoors and learning together. Meanwhile, half of our 4th graders spent time at Zoo School, discovering more about animals and their habitats.

Next week, the excitement continues as part of our 3rd grade team will head to Edgerton for their Outdoor Education program and the 2nd half of our kindergarten groups will enjoy their trip to the pumpkin patch. We will celebrate our Students of the Month, recognizing learners who have gone above and beyond.

We’d also like to send a huge thank-you to our families for the Warm Fuzzy treats in the teacher’s lounge on Tuesday! Our staff was so excited and truly appreciated your kindness and thoughtfulness.

Next Friday is our Monster March. We’d love to see our Roguewood families join in the fun. If we don’t see you then, we look forward to connecting during conference week.

There’s so much to celebrate here at Roguewood, and we’re grateful to share these special moments with your children!

Your proud principal!

Amie Santillán

Character Trait of the Month: Respect

This month, Roguewood students are focusing on Respect, treating people, spaces, and belongings with care. We’ve been talking about what respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like in our classrooms and around the school.

  • Respect looks like sharing, taking turns, and caring for our materials and spaces.
  • It sounds like using kind words, listening without interrupting, and apologizing when we make a mistake.
  • And it feels like being safe, included, calm, and valued.

Students can earn RAMS Tickets all month long for showing respect in their actions and words, both in the classroom and around the building. Ask your child what respect looks like to them and how they’re working to earn their RAMS tickets this month!

Respect - what it looks like: sharing, taking turns, using kind hands and keeping hands/feet to self. Sounds like: saying please and thank you, listening without interrupting, apologizing when you make a mistake. Feels like: feeling safe and included, feeling calm and cared for. Home discussion prompts: How do you show respect when someone else is speaking? When was a time you apologized and how did it make things better?

Helping Hands - Holiday Help

There are those times in life when knowing people are thinking about you just makes things a little easier.  Your Roguewood Families would really like to share some love and resources with your family this holiday season.

Please consider filling out the Holiday Help Form BY 11/07/2025 if your family is in need of support.  All information will be kept strictly confidential. Our Office Team and school Social Worker will collect all request forms and share those requests (item requests only, no names will be shared) with our families who would like to help/sponsor.  Families receiving donations will need to send a family member to pick up the donations on Wednesday, December 17.

Volunteer Opportunities

At Roguewood, we believe our school is strongest when families and staff work together. We are excited to welcome families into the building and invite you to be a part of our school community. Whether you can lend a hand in the cafeteria, at recess, helping with PTO sponsored events or in the classroom helping your teacher, your presence makes a meaningful difference for our students.

Please consider volunteering in the following areas:

Tuesdays & Thursdays

parent/teacher conferences

We are looking forward to conferences on Monday, November 3rd and Thursday, November 7th. To streamline scheduling, all conferences will be in-person.

Follow the below steps for scheduling your conferences!

You can book conferences with your child's teacher using the Fall Conference Booking link below:

Fall Conference Bookings

You can also scan this QR Code:

After filling out your information, you will be able to identify teachers by the grade they teach in the dropdown menu as well as special teachers and ancillary staff. When you choose a grade, you will be able to choose your child’s teacher and a time that works for you. You can go through this process for each of your children. We suggest that if you have multiple children, please put a gap of time between the meetings. You will then get an email confirmation with your time.

Please note that we will not have child care available on either date.

NO CELLPHONES OR SMART WATCHES

  • Students with a cellphone may not use them during the school day, and they should be stored in the child’s backpack at all times.
  • Please do not text or call your student on their device during the school day. Communication should go through the office.
  • Students with smartwatches should have their device set to school mode, which disables distracting smartwatch features—like calls, messages, and games—while keeping essential safety tools active.
  • Students should not be wearing earbuds or other noise-canceling headphones unless it is a documented accommodation.

Thank you for your help with this!

LABEL EVERYTHING - SEND IN EXTRA CLOTHES

To avoid your student’s clothing from going into the lost and found PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING!!! Label all coats, boots, mittens, hats, etc. Labeling items will ensure they will back it back home!

ALL students should have a change of clothes in their lockers.  Our Care Closet only has a few outfits for students to borrow and bring back.  We tend to run out as the year goes on.
