Dear Valley View Families,
We’ve had a busy and exciting two weeks at school! Our fifth-grade students enjoyed their annual Junior Achievement field trip, fourth grade participated in Zoo School, kindergarten celebrated a Royal Tea Party connected to their kings and queens unit, and all grade levels took part in conference preparation. Whew!
Speaking of conferences, I want to extend a big thank you for your participation. Your involvement and support make a significant difference in our school community.

Registration for Summer Care 2026 will begin on March 4th at 6 PM. How to Register:

3rd grade families
Rockford Outdoor Learning is a 4th and 5th grade program. Students learn both in a traditional classroom and in the 26-acre nature center behind Edgerton Trails.
3rd grade students and their families are encouraged to attend an Outdoor Education informational meeting on March 26 at 5:00 at Edgerton Trails. This will provide an opportunity to learn more about the program and see the beautiful nature center space at Edgerton Trails.

GRASP
Do you want to help your child maintain reading and math skills over summer break? GRASP is an at home program used by families for 50 years!
Grand Rapids Academic Summer Program (GRASP) is a summer math and reading correspondence program that helps scholars in grades kindergarten through 8th retain skills learned during the school year by providing review exercises.

DK/K ENROLLMENT
Kindergarten enrollment for the 2026/2027 school year is now open. Children who turn five years old on or before December 1st, 2026 are eligible to enroll in DK and Kindergarten. All enrollment information can be found on our website at Enrollment Procedures - Rockford Public Schools.
DK/K PARENT NIGHT
Parents of incoming DK or Kindergarten students for the 2026-2027 school year are welcome to attend a parent information night on Tuesday, March 16th from 6:00-7:00pm here at Valley View.
Note, this information night is for parents/guardians only and will serve as an opportunity for parents/guardians to meet the teachers and see the school. This event includes opportunities to learn more about the screening process and our Developmental Kindergarten and Kindergarten programming. Please make other arrangements for your child(ren) for the Parent/Guardian Information Night as there will be an opportunity in August for them to meet their teacher and visit their classroom prior to the first day of school.

Whitecaps night
You're invited to support Rockford Public Schools and kick off your summer with the West Michigan Whitecaps!! Enjoy a fun night out and know that a portion of each ticket bought will be donated directly back to our schools. Game information: Tuesday May 19th at 6:05pm. RPS Skate Night
Join us for the RPS Elementary School family open skate TOMORROW, February 28th from 3-5pm at the Cedar Rock Sports Plex. Admission fee is $10 and if you sign in for Valley View, our PTO receives $2. We hope to see you there!
