dress up day osob celebration!

In celebration of wrapping up our One School, One Book, story, Friday, March 28th will be "dress as your favorite Charlotte's Web character."  Fern, a farmer, or even Wilbur...who is your favorite character?

Let's bring the book to life!

battle of the books

Congratulations to our 5th grade students who will represent Valley View at this year's Battle of the Books. Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together as a group to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. The students will compete against the other elementary schools in the district in a chance to bring the title home to Valley View!

Best of luck to this year's team!!

starbooks cafe...

...was such a major success, we're expanding it!  Starbooks Cafe, our school library’s book-tasting event, has become an instant smash hit, drawing in students eager to sample new literary flavors. With a cozy, café-style setup complete with menu of exciting books across different genres, the event transformed our library into a magical place to sample books. Students browsed "book flights," got a taste of different stories, and shared recommendations, creating a buzz and enthusiasm for reading. The overwhelming success of Starbooks Cafe proves that when you mix great books with a welcoming atmosphere, the love of reading flourishes! Be on the lookout right after Spring Break for invites to our younger readers to experience this ultra cool cafe.

hitch's happenings

RPS and REF officially welcomed the 8th counseling dog, Hitch, to Valley View Elementary last week. Fifth Grade students Rose, Della and Chloe gave heartwarming speeches on what having Hitch at Valley View means to them. Here's a few highlights from their speeches:
Hitch came in before one of our math tests and everyone that was nervous felt better, including me.
Some people need someone who understands them without saying anything at all.
Hitch is the perfect example of an amazing school dog......most important of all, he's a great listener.
I look forward each day to seeing Hitch and hanging out with him in Mrs. Gardner's classroom.
