Welcome Class of 2030!

We are collectively excited to welcome the Class of 2030 to the Rockford Freshman Center. In August of 2026, we will welcome approximately 600 students from public, private and home schools. The first year of high school is exciting, fun and challenging, and we look forward to partnering with you during this transitional time!

Students currently enrolled in OLC, ABVM, Rockford Christian, Chandler Woods, home school, or other school - WELCOME! We are excited to meet you. Please email Mrs. Betsy Connor (bconnor@rockfordschools.org) to be added to our email distribution list for the Class of 2030.

Scheduling

Current 8th graders will have the opportunity to request courses for ninth grade in February or March. This information is used to create the building schedule with the correct number of courses in order to accommodate our students. The computer system will use student requests to generate schedules for our students as they did in middle school, and counselors will review the schedules prior to orientation. There are no additional steps to complete. Students will be able to access their schedules on/by August 17, 2026.

Orientation

Student orientation will occur one week prior to the first day of school. The district calendar has not been published so please plan on either August 10 or August 17, 2026. Students will:

  • Have a school portrait taken
  • Receive their school ID
  • Check out a school-issued Chromebook (unless using a personal computer)
  • Locate and organize locker
  • Locate classrooms

Parents are welcome to attend, but parent attendance is not required. Most students require 20-45 minutes to complete the tasks. Students will sign up for an arrival time once the date is firmly established.

High School Athletics

Fall sports begin prior to the start of school and many offer camp or training experiences in the summer. Fall sports include cheer, cross country, e-sports, field hockey, football, golf, rugby, soccer, swim/dive, tennis, volleyball and water polo. Please visit the athletic web page here: High School Athletics website for contact information if your student is interested in high school athletic programs.

Athletic tickets and passes are available online through GoFan. Students are encouraged to purchase a digital Student Pass for $25, which covers admission to home events for the school year, not including playoff contests.

Bring Your Own Device

Rockford High School students have the opportunity to continue learning with the support of technology, often called 1:1. Rockford elementary and middle schools issue a device to every student, but at high school, students may provide their own device. A school-issued Chromebook will be issued to any student who does not bring their own device.

Testing Out June 8-12, 2026
