Nursing Services Responsibilities

Assessment of acute illnesses
Monitor health conditions
Emergency care of on-site student and employee injuries
Develop Individual Health Care Plans (IHPs) for students with medical conditions
Develop Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for students who are medically fragile
Participate in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Provide individual services to students with critical medical needs
Coordinate communication of health care needs of a student to school personnel
Communicable disease management and reporting
Immunizations IP reporting to Kent County Health Department
CPR and first aid training for staff
Vision, hearing, and dental screening coordination with Kent County Health Department
Implementation of OSHA Guidelines
Appraise the school environment to ensure healthful conditions
Monitor medication administration
Train unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs)
Supervise UAPs and limited licensed nurses
