reading helps us grow
Reading Month is rolling!
- There is quite a buzz around the school...everyone seems to be talking about a cute little donkey! We hope you and your family are having as much fun as we are reading about Winslow!
- Your literary scholars have been busy answering questions, hearing quotes about reading and winning books! Congrats to this weeks winners...Edward, Izzy, Maddie K., Maddie S., Arya Z, and Daisy K!
- We love seeing all the books changing hands at our book exchange! Students can participate as much as they would like! How it works:
- Bring a gently used book from home.
- Choose a book from the exchange to take and read.
- When finished, return it or pass it along to a friend! and REPEAT!
- Please have your student bring as many books in for the exchange as you would like! Our goal is to keep the students engaged and interested in reading.
- K-2nd graders were treated to a guest author virtual visit- thank you PTO! Next week 3-5th will get to meet Kate DiCamillo virtually!
Parkside shoutouts
We had the most amazing meals for conferences. Thank you to all the families that brought food, treats, drinks and showered our teachers with fuel for those long days!
HUGE shoutout to our amazing door and library decorators! Your creativity and hard work sparked some serious joy around Parkside!
Parkside has been a revolving door of amazing guest readers this week! Thank you to all the grownups that have donated their time to spread the joy of reading around!
Character Trait of the month - integrity
Quote: “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” – C.S. Lewis
Conversation Starter: At dinner or bedtime, ask your children: "Can you think of a time today when you did the right thing, even when it was hard? How did it make you feel?" Encouraging these reflections helps kids understand that integrity is about making good choices, even when no one else sees.
Tip: Foster integrity by praising honesty and ethical behavior in everyday moments. If your child admits to a mistake or chooses to do what’s right despite challenges, acknowledge their courage. Modeling integrity yourself—whether by keeping promises or speaking truthfully—reinforces the value of being trustworthy and doing what’s right.
