PowerSchool: Everything You Need To Know
PowerSchool is Rockford Public Schools' new Student Information System. Through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, parents and guardians can access important student information, including:
- Student schedules
- Attendance records
- Grades and academic progress
- Contact information
- Student forms and registration information
- School and district communications
As RPS transitions from Skyward to PowerSchool, this page will service as a central resource for account setup, tutorials, frequently asked questions, and support.
Creating Your Parent Portal Account
To access the PowerSchool Parent Portal, parents and guardians will need to create an account using the Access ID and Access Password provided by Rockford Public Schools.
Before you begin:
Please have the following information available:
- Student name
- Access ID
- Access Password
- An active email address
Create your account
1. Click the PowerSchool Parent Portal Link here:
2. Select Create Account.
3. Under Create Parent Account, enter:
- First Name: Parent/Guardian first name
- Last Name: Parent/Guardian last name
- Email: Parent/Guardian email to receive notifications, username & password reset info
- Desired Username: a username for yourself
- Password: a password for yourself
- Re-enter password (min 8 characters with 1 uppercase, lowercase, number, special character)
4. Under Link Students to Account, enter:
- Student Name
- Access ID
- Access Password
- Relationship to Student
5. Click Enter or Submit. (Repeat if you have more than one student, each student has a PowerSchool Parent Portal Setup letter)
6. Once your account is successfully created, log in using your new username and password.
Already Have a Parent Account and Need to Add Another Student?
If you already have a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account and need to add another student:
1. Login to your Parent Portal Account.
2. Navigate to Account Preferences.
3. Select Students.
4. Choose Add Student.
5. Enter the student's Access ID and Access Password.
Frequently Asked Questions
I forgot my username/password
1. Open your Web browser to https://rockfordschools.powerschool.com/public/ OR open the Mobile app.. the Log In page appears
2. Click the Forgot Username or Password?
2. Click the Forgot Password? tab or Forgot User Name? tab
3. Enter your user name (for Forgot Password ONLY)
4. Enter your email address (for both Forgot Password and Forgot User Name)
5. Click Enter
6. A confirmation message appears and an email is sent with your user name or instructions for resetting your password.
Can both parents/guardians create accounts?
Yes. Each parent or guardian may create their own account using the student's Access Id and Access Password.
What if I have multiple students?
You do not need multiple accounts if you have multiple students. All of your students can be linked to one parent account.
How do I receive my Access information?
Rockford Public Schools will send your student's PowerSchool Access ID and Access Password to the email address we have on file. Families with multiple students will receive separate Access IDs and Access Passwords for each student.
when will bus routes be available?
Busing routes will be available in My Ride K-12 when they are completed. Instructions for downloading the app and accessing information will be emailed in the coming weeks.
PowerSchool Mobile App
Parents can also access PowerSchool using the PowerSchool Mobile App.

District Code: HRGB
1. Download the PowerSchool Mobile App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Open the app.
3. Enter our district code: HRGB then click Continue
4. Login using your PowerSchool Parent Portal username and password.
