Dear Cannonsburg Elementary Families,
We made it! As the final bells ring and we head off into summer, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for an incredible school year. Your support, energy, and partnership are what make Cannonsburg such a special place for our students to grow.
While summer is a time for relaxation, family adventures, and sleeping in, we are already looking forward to a great year ahead! To help you plan for the fall, please mark your calendars with the important back-to-school dates for open house and Kindergarten Cub Camp in August.
Popsicles at the Playground!
If you are looking to stay connected with other Cannonsburg families over the summer break, please come out and join us for our Popsicles at the Playground events! These are especially helpful for incoming Kindergarteners to get comfortable with the school playground and meet some future classmates!
I will be hosting these gatherings to catch up with our returning students and welcome new faces. I'll be serving up cool popsicles, reading a book, and leading a great activity for everyone who attends.

We know that entering into a new space and school can come with a lot of big feelings. To help with this transition, we are excited to welcome you and your new kindergartener into school early for Cub Camp & Lunch! POWERSCHOOL
Rockford Public Schools is transitioning our student information system, Skyward, to PowerSchool this summer. The system will provide a more user-friendly experience for all stakeholders. For parents, this means you will have a more intuitive experience and access to items like grades, attendance, schedules, and communications.
Please look for more information this summer. The district will share additional details about login information and resources through PowerSchool. No action is required from families at this time.

Kindergarten enrollment!
Kindergarten Enrollment is now open! Children who turn five on or before December 1, 2026 will be eligible to enroll in DK and Kindergarten for the 26-27 school year. Find more information here:

BAC - 2026/27 School Year
Before and After School Care (BAC) Program
The BAC program is offered at all elementary schools in the RPS district, available Monday - Friday, 7:00 am until the start of school, and at the end of the school day until 6:00 pm. Our BAC programs provide parents with the security of knowing their children are in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment before and after school hours. DK students have the option of attending BAC at Cannonsburg or Crestwood where they attend DK. Transportation is provided between each elementary school and the DK locations.
BAC is offered every day that school is in session and during Winter and Spring Break. Table games, crafts, gym time, outdoor play, and literacy time are planned each day. For more information regarding BAC registration, visit:
