A note from Mrs. O.

Edgerton Families,

Wow!  What a month October has been.  Field trips, Fundraisers, Candy Wars, Fall Festival and Halloween.  I want to thank all of our families for their support of our school events. Our fundraiser was a tremendous success, and these funds will be used to support teaching and learning for our students. Congratulations to Mrs. Noakes, Mrs. Slamp's and Mrs. Kranzo's classes on their finish in the top 3 fundraising classes.

Edgerton Trails benefits from our hard-working PTO. This group of volunteers is at our school daily/weekly to help build our positive school climate. I am grateful for the partnership of this hard-working group.  If you are looking for a way to be involved at Edgerton Trails, please join us for the next PTO meeting on November 11 at 6:00 PM.

On Friday, we will have our Halloween Parties. Across the district, all elementary classes will have 5 parent volunteers at the Halloween Party. All volunteers have already signed up, and we have done our Security Checks, on all registered attendees.  We will not be able to honor any last-minute sign-ups or extra volunteers due to Security and management of visitors in the building. Thank you for your understanding of this.  Our Holiday Party will be December 17, and Valentine Party will be February 11. Sign-ups to attend those parties will be conducted similar to the Halloween Party Sign Ups.

LOST AND FOUND:

All Lost and Found items will be donated on November 5.  Please check out our Lost and Found when you come for conferences.

Student Safety Reminder:

If your student walks, rides a bike or scooter to school, please go over the traffic rules that apply and remind them to stop at all crosswalks and stop signs.  I have had a few emails from neighbors saying they have seen students cross without looking.

Pick Up Numbers:

Please have your pick up number with you when you are picking up your student.  If you park and get out to pick up your student please have it visible to the staff.  This procedure allows us to have safe transfer to students to their proper pick up at the end of day.  Starting next week, we will ask for ID if your pick up number is not visible. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Report Cards available on Monday Nov. 2

Power School Report Card Access Link  This link shows the steps to access your student's report card.  Hard copies of the report card will be available at school from your student's teacher.

dismissal changes/reminders

  1. Changes in dismissal plans MUST be communicated to the teacher and the office NO LATER than 2:00pm.

  2. Cut off time for early pick-ups is 2:45pm.

  3. Please include Jennifer Perry (jperry1@rockfordschools.org) and/or Melissa Schad (mschad@rockfordschools.org) in any emails you send to your student's teacher regarding any dismissal changes. Many times, there is a sub in the classroom who doesn't have access to the teacher's email, or the teacher simply didn't have time to check email throughout the day. Adding the office staff onto the email will help ensure your students change in dismissal plans is a success.

  4. The earlier you call/email for a dismissal change, the better.

Our School Community-RAMS MODEL

This year we are continuing with our RAMS model. The RAMS model recognizes students for being

R: Respectful

A: Accountable

M: Motivated

S: Safe

When staff notice these behaviors, we pass out Ram tickets and these are used as a raffle (in DK, K and 1st) and as currency for shopping in the school store for our 2nd-5th graders.

In November we will be focusing on Accountability.  Accountability in our RAMS model means: being ready to learn, trying your best, participating and owning your choices.  For November, students will have an opportunity to earn a green Ram ticket worth 10.

We continue to use the language of respectful, accountable, motivated and safe with all students when redirection is needed and noticing and celebrating when we see positive choices.

We need your help!

Our students need volunteers during lunch and recess.  Your involvement makes a significant difference, as research shows children thrive when parents and adults are more engaged.

If you are able to lend a hand, we invite you to sign up for any available time slot(s).  Every bit of help counts and goes a long way toward creating a positive experience for our students.

We appreciate your time, effort, and willingness in helping enrich the experience for our children at Edgerton Trails. Should you have any questions about the volunteer process, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.  Thank you!

NOTE: ALL volunteers will have to pass the Rockford Public Schools background check for the 2026-2027 school year and are required to complete the Volunteer Consent Form.
