Hello Roguewood Families!
Happy Friday! We have had another wonderful week at Roguewood, and there is a lot happening in our school community. As we head into what looks like a great weekend, here are a few updates and reminders from RGW!
What’s the Buzz at Roguewood?
You may have heard or even noticed hat we have had quite a few bees around our playground and outdoor areas lately. We are aware of them and have been actively searching our grounds to locate where they are coming from.
So far, the bees have been very good at hiding their home! Our team continues to search for the hive so that, once it is located, we can have a local company properly treat the area.
We will continue keeping a close eye on things while our students are outside.
M-STEP Reports Coming Home Today
Families of our 4th and 5th grade students, please check backpacks tonight!
M-STEP student reports are being sent home today with students. These reports provide information about your child's performance on last spring's state assessment.
If you have questions after reviewing your child's report, please reach out to your child's teacher.
4th and 5th grade families should look for communication coming from me this afternoon.
NWEA Testing Continues Next Week
Our students have been working hard during our beginning-of-the-year assessments. NWEA testing will continue into next week as students complete the math portion of the assessment.
These assessments give our teachers valuable information about where students are starting the year and help us plan instruction and support based on individual student needs.
You can help by making sure students get a good night's sleep, eat breakfast, and arrive at school on time and ready to do their best!
Afternoon Appointment Reminder
A quick reminder for families scheduling afternoon appointments: please do not plan to check students out of school later than 2:45 p.m.
As we move closer to dismissal, our office and classrooms are preparing more than 500 students for buses, parent pick-up, and other end-of-day routines. Late checkouts can make an already busy dismissal process much more difficult and can create confusion as students are transitioning to their dismissal locations.
If your child has an afternoon appointment, please plan to pick them up by 2:45 p.m. whenever possible. We greatly appreciate your help keeping our dismissal process safe, organized, and efficient!
Fall Fest Is NEXT FRIDAY!
One of our favorite Roguewood events is almost here!
Our PTO Fall Fest is next Friday night right here at Roguewood! This is an all-school community celebration, and we hope to see lots of our Roguewood families there.
There will be games, inflatables, food, and plenty of fun, followed by a movie outside on the soccer field.
Bring the family and come enjoy a great evening with our Roguewood community!

We had a fantastic turnout at our PTO meeting on Tuesday! It was wonderful to see so many families coming together to support our students, staff, and school.
There are so many ways to be involved at Roguewood, and you don't have to attend every meeting or volunteer for everything to make a difference. Whether you can give an hour, attend an event, help a teacher, or simply participate with your family, you are an important part of our Roguewood community.
WATCH D.O.G.S. Are Back!
We are excited to get our WATCH D.O.G.S. program up and running again!
WATCH D.O.G.S. gives dads and other positive male role models an opportunity to spend time at Roguewood, connect with students, and provide an additional positive adult presence throughout our school.
More Ways to Volunteer at Roguewood
We know many of our families would love more opportunities to be part of their child's school experience.
Our teachers are working to provide additional volunteer opportunities for families throughout the year. Opportunities may look different depending on the classroom, grade level, and teacher needs, but we are excited to continue finding meaningful ways for families to be involved.

Our Rockford Rams play tonight, and the Detroit Lions play on Sunday. Whether you're cheering from the stands, watching from home, or simply enjoying the weekend, we hope you have a wonderful one.

M-STEP Testing Reports – Grades 4 and 5
Fourth and fifth grade students will be bringing home their 2025 M-STEP Parent Report today. This report provides families with information about how students performed on the state assessment and their progress toward Michigan’s grade-level learning standards.
The M-STEP is one way we can see what students know and are able to do in key subject areas. We encourage families to take some time to review the report together and celebrate your child’s growth and accomplishments. The results can also help students and families identify areas where continued growth and support may be helpful.
If you have questions about your child’s report, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.

Mileage Club
It's that time again...MILEAGE CLUB! We are looking for volunteers to help set up cards, make sure students know where to run, scan cards, and clean up after. This will be happening during lunch recess this year. Lace up those shoes and come out to the soccer field!

REMINDERS
Feel free to pack an extra pair of socks, shorts, t-shirt, and sweatpants in your child's backpack. Don’t forget to put your child’s name on coats, rain boots, etc. Thank you!
Weather Alert
For up-to-date information regarding Rockford Public Schools delays and/or closings, events and safety alerts, send a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our district’s short code number, 67587. Opt out any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop." Be sure to tune in on icy or snowy mornings!
NO CELLPHONES OR SMART WATCHES
Students with a cellphone will be asked to turn the phone off and not use them during the school day. Please do not text or call your student on their device during the school day. This creates a distraction to the classroom. We will always help with communication through the office or an email to the teacher if needed.
Students with Apple watches or other wrist devices are asked not use the device to communicate during the school day.
Students who need to contact home because they are ill or wondering about the end of the day pick up should talk to their classroom teacher who will help them navigate next steps of support.
Devices at school are distracting to students during the learning day and we ask that unless your student needs the device to communicate after school that they stay home.

Who do I call if my student will be absent or late to school?
If your student will be absent or tardy, please call the school phone 616-863-6374 option 1 OR email both the teacher AND Jenny Bradley at jbradley@rockfordschools.org or Justin Eckert at jeckert@rockfordschools.org
If a student is ill, you must include the symptoms (or diagnosis) for our weekly health report to KCHD
What if my student is out sick?
Absences MUST be called into the office 616.863.6374 or emailed to the front office
Please leave a message on our general voicemail box if you are calling after hours. Whether you are reporting an absence on our voicemail, the State of Michigan requires us to know the following:
Student's name and teacher
Reason for absence - if it is an illness we need to know the symptoms of the illness - vomiting, coughing, fever, cold, diarrhea, lice - whatever the reason may be.
Who do I notify if I have a dismissal change for my student(s)?
We kindly request that there are no early pickups after 2:45pm. Our office staff starts getting busy with dismissal duties throughout the building.
Please be sure to let us know of any dismissal changes PRIOR to 2:00pm
