We’re going to introduce you to the latest recipient of the One School at a Time grant, which is given out by Family Fare! Today we’re taking you to River Valley Academy in Rockford, an alternative high school that really focuses on students who need non-traditional support in the classroom to help them stay on the road to graduation and future success! Through the grant, they’re hoping to put a greater emphasis on career exploration and workplace experiences.

What if I want my student to use an RPS Chromebook instead of a device from home?

If you would like your student to borrow a Chromebook from RPS, please read the RPS Technology Plan.

What about a laptop? Do I need to provide one?

RPS high schools follow a 1:1 format where each student is expected to bring a device to school, fully charged.

 Also, please note the Student Device Management information regarding fees for damaged devices.

How do I know what time the bus comes, if I need it?

Busing information including bus number, bus stop location, and pick-up times will be available in Family Access.

Students will ride the listed bus to the Rockford Freshman Center, where they will get on bus #77, the RVA shuttle bus. The shuttle bus leaves RFC between 7:25 and 7:30 AM. Afterschool, the shuttle bus will pick students up at RVA at 2:18 and drop them at the RHS 10-12 building where they will catch the bus that takes them home.
