When I visit Edgerton Trails I leave with a feeling of excitement. The learning potential for the students that attend this school is going to be amazing. Edgerton Trails will offer a quality Rockford education in the walls of a state-of-the-art building. Beyond the building itself are the grounds. The woodland trails and ponds will provide outdoor learning experiences for all our learners.

The plan for this building was years in the making with visits to schools across the state and country. Maximizing learning spaces, creating space for student and staff collaboration, and establishing a building theme of our great state of Michigan were decisions made that put student learning at the forefront. Every part of the building plan was made with the student learner in mind, and this will be evident as our community walks the halls of this building. The furniture that will be in this building was already brought to two of the elementary schools and the furniture itself has functions that increase student learning through collaboration.

The opportunity to be part of a new building in a district that I love is an honor.  It will be one of the highlights of my time as an educator. As with all our school buildings in RPS, Edgerton Trails will provide students a place to feel valued, celebrated and pushed to reach their full potential. The opening of Edgerton Trails Elementary in August 2024 is going to be an exciting time for the students, staff and family that will be directly impacted by this school.
