Superintendent’s Welcome

Dear Rockford Public Schools students, parents, and community members:

A new school year is upon us. The 2024-2025 school year brings both new and familiar opportunities to our district.

Among the new things starting this fall:

  • Our new elementary school, Edgerton Trails, has opened.
  • New elementary language arts curriculum.
  • Valley View has a new parking lot, a new bus loop, and no portables in the front or the back.
  • Roguewood Elementary has a new gym.
  • Lakes, Parkside, Edgerton Trails, and Roguewood have new classroom furniture.
  • North Rockford Middle School has a new 6th-grade wing, a new orchestra room, an updated band room, reconfigured classrooms around the indoor courtyard, and a repaved and updated parking lot.
  • Portables have been removed from Belmont Elementary and Meadow Ridge Elementary.
  • Our transportation department has a new garage, office space, and parking lot.
  • We have new tennis courts at the high school.
  • Plus, we have new elementary boundaries.

That is a lot of new.

Some of the familiar things remain.

  • Great staff
  • Challenging and meaningful curriculum
  • Wonderful opportunities for students
  • Free school breakfast and lunch
  • Wonderful facilities

I trust that this new year will once again challenge our students and help them continue to grow and develop as we work together as a Rockford community to provide them with opportunities and support.
